I've ordered these twice. The second batch had some missing after some mishap in shipping. I emailed and replacements were quickly sent. Great doing business with them. Great wood with an amazing story. Turning reminds me of wenge but softer.

I have better envelopes for larger orders now. So no more pieces getting lost in transit now.

I would like 10 more blanks please. The last lot were beautiful and turned out very nice. Do you have any 1.5" stock? If so, I would like some of that also.
Thanks

I received 5 blanks in the US mail today (1 April). I paid for them on 24 March. The padded envelope had an Eire stamp on it. The blanks were in perfect shape. Thank you very much!

Three blanks are very dark, what I would call "charcoal gray." Two blanks are lighter in color and weight. I call them "grayish cocoa brown" with thin black grain streaks.

The darker blanks weigh 1.70 oz (48 grams), 1.55 oz (44 grams), and 1.6 oz (45 grams). The lighter blanks weigh only 0.8 oz (23 grams) and 1.15 oz (33 grams). My scale is a cheap kitchen scale, but it shows the large difference in weight between the two types of blanks. I don't know why the colors and weights vary. Perhaps they came from different trees. Perhaps three are hardwood and two are sapwood. Perhaps the difference represents varying rates of decay.

Regardless of explanation, I am pleased that I got a mix of the two types to try.

Hello penicillin,
The dark brown blanks comes from the centre of the tree. in the pictures below you can see that the plank is dark brown in the centre and black on the outside edges. All my bog oak comes from the same tree, and the dark brown blanks are not sapwood.

I like to give my customers a variety of these blanks on their first purchase. If you would like to buy from me again, you can ask for all black ones or a mixture.

Perhaps on future treads I will make this more clear.

Also the grain is more clear on the lighter blanks.
Thanks

Blanks arrived today. Nice mix of dark and lighter. Bag was a little worse for wear, but the wood was all there and in fine shape.
Thank you very much.
