I finally got in my play box this afternoon, I'm beginning to really like the Baron pens, this is done in Ipe (Brazilian Walnut) it is supposed to be the hardest wood there is, I tend to agree, the pen is finished with three coats of thin CA as a sealer, then 4 coats of thick CA, sanded to 1500 and buffed the kit is upgrade gold Fountain pen from Joes group buy,

I think that Ipe (EE-PAY) is considered an "ironwood" - can be real hard to work with. But once finished, the pen should last a very long time. I have a nice cigar pen made out of this material. It took more than a few blanks to get my first pen made out of this wood.

The cell structure can be a bit "open" and I have found that using CA glue with sawdust can smooth out the finish.
