The USB ports are shot on my laptop and instead of buying another laptop I am thinking about buying a new 3rd generation Ipad.
Is anyone using primarily an Ipad?
Should I go with a laptop?
I don't watch movies on my laptop now so I will mainly use it for forums, emails and I plan on setting up a business facebook and do more ebay selling.
I think I can get by with the 16 G wireless and wait for a smartphone to add on the 3 or 4 G data package with the square or some type of CC option.

I use my iPad a lot since I got it back in March. But I would not use it as a primary computing device because there's too many things that just don't transport over to them yet. But they are a super secondary computing device!

I primarily use my iPad. Like 95% of what I do. There are still things I use a computer for, but just not very much anymore. Go for it!

You might wish to analyze the cost of data plans before making your purchase. It sounds as if you don't have a smart phone at this time. If you don't need/want a smart phone, an Ipad with Verizon or AT&T could actually save you money. The data packages on the Ipads are month to month, not contract, so you only pay for the months when you actually need it. From the shopping I've done, the Ipad data plans are cheaper than the smartphone plans, and since I'd only pay when needed, offer a significant advantage over a smart phone. Its something to consider before making the leap.

I've had my iPad for about 1 1/2 years. I don't go anywhere without it. Mine is 3G/wifi version. I would recommend getting it with the 3G version. Data plans not bad...2 choices--14.99 or $29.99 per month. I use it for my GPS when out & about. Easier for me to see than the small dash mounts. Also when customers want to see pen pics, I can pull up my website & show them on the spot. If you use paypal, they are rolling out their version of the cc reader. It will work with iPhone or iPad. I still use the home computer, but my iPad makes a great secondary device.

My brother just sold his IPad and he bought the Aces Transformer Tab 2 with the keyboard dock. It has a GPS and wifi only on his model it can be used for work and the camera is great. I use it a lot we can do photoshop pro on our computer but the tablet is good enough for photos.

Thanks for all the replies! At first I wasn't planning on going with the 4G but I like the idea of paying for the data as needed. I can see where that would really come in handy. I'm glad that you brought up that point.
I'll let you know what I end up doing.

This is about how I see it being used as well. But processing my photos and writing up my listings are much more efficient when done on the desktop PC.
