I have been kicking around having a meeting of some penturners here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Around here there is a turning group that have guys that do pens, but very few pen enthusist's. I was hoping if I hosted the first meeting someone else might do the same in the following years.
I have a shop in my three car garage the should hold 15 or so...it has heat, 2 lathes, more tools than I should have ever bought and I have 15 chairs.
I was thinking Jan/Feb time period. I know it is chancey to do that in Iowa, but I think most would be busy with careers and outdoor stuff in the nice weather months.
I have no idea of how to do this or even if there is any interest. I wouldn't want to ask people to travel if it is going to be uninteresting or a waste of time.
So if you are from the area and have interest in attending please let me know. If you have ideas on speakers, and "how to do this in general" let me know that too.
