Apparently Intuit has finally realized the folly of their Turbo Tax changes.

Starting tomorrow (Feb 7), it should be possible to upgrade the Deluxe version to Premier or Home & Business on-line at no charge.

Also Intuit has announced that they will restore the missing forms to the Deluxe version next year.

Yeah, but now they have more problems. Minnesota has stopped accepting State returns filed with Turbo Tax because of some issues and other states are reporting issues as well.

Good thing we filed earlier this year.

Now we are just waiting for the refund. (Like that is going to anythiing but bills. [and jeff's ...and ed's.....and the electric.....ETC. LOL ])
:~)

Issues like the rampant fraud. Not just your State, all States. While this only effects State returns, I would be leary for filing Federal as well.

TurboTax halts state filings amid fraud outbreak

Taxslayer

I've used Tax Slayer for several years and have not had any problems it isn't free (But it can be if you go through the IRS website looking for it and qualify) but doesn't cost a lot and I think they might now offer a bookkeeping service too.

I've used TurboTax for years, but always wait till I receive everything before I purchase it, and started seeing these problems a bit ago, so I'm still holding off for a while... Massachusetts has it's own online Tax software for the majority of users, and it is so easy to do once you have your federal done, that I've never bothered to use TurboTax for State. I did for 2 years run state through TT to see if it came up with anything different, and it was always spot on to the penny with the State D.O. Revenue Web Application, which is free...

I have so little Non-pension income that my DE state income tax always comes out to nothing owed and no refund.

If you read the announcements from Intuit carefully, you will find that they are still being devious.

Customers who bought TT Deluxe and have not yet upgraded to restore the functionality Intuit took away can get the upgrade for free starting tomorrow.

But customers who purchased TT Deluxe and who had to pay the $30 upgrade fee last week can only get back $25 (and only if they apply for the upgrade after filing their tax return and before 20 April).

And if they don't get the state e-filing thing fixed quickly, the problems will get even more serious.

Like everything regarding their product this year, it doesn't appear that they have fully thought this one out either.

I wouldn't be surprised if they wind up refunding the full $30 upgrade fee for those who have already had to pay it. I'm sure they will get hit with another round of loud complaints if they don't.
