I am looking to get a new TV. One of the things I would like to be able to do is watch programs that I can get with Amazon Prime. I have WiFi. If, for example, I miss an eposide of Big Bang I would like to be able to watch it on the TV.
Can these "internet ready" televisions with built in WiFi do this?

Some can, but some say they can but lock you into the sites they have deals with. I can get out to alot of things on my Visio, but not to the pure internet. I believe that the Google box you can hook to your TV will give you access to the world...

I have two Vizios (which I really like and due to the warranty specs). They both allow you to get the Amazon Prime on the WiFi...actually have a dedicated button for it on the remote.
Good Luck

The Google Chromecast will let you watch anything in the Chrome web browser. Need WiFi and a TV with a HDMI input. I use it to watch various streaming video. It's about $39 and plugs into the TV or AV box's HDMI.

I love that amazon added movies/tv prime I use it daily and stream it to my tv(s). My main TV does have wifi but unfortunately I never bothered setting the network up for it I'm still all cat5 through the house. I just use an HDMI cable since my boxes are only about ten feet from my tv's.

Another option might be to get a Blu-Ray player with WiFi. My Sony Blu-Ray 3-D player (I don't have a 3-D TV) accesses the internet thru WiFi. I bought a Samsung back lite LED tv but it didn't have internet access. It does download updates thru WiFi though. I use the player to watch YouTube, Netflix & the internet.
