I watched the video on this, and seriously, it is a waist of money esp at $80.00 plus ship. I will pass. One can buy a $40 set of Vener calipers and your good to go.
 
I'll second the open end wrench. If you really want to go extreme, grind down one of the jaw prongs to a sharp edge like a parting tool. The other jaw acts like a rest and goes below the work. Watch out for catches.
 
Let me rephrase what I said about open end wrenches, I use them to rough out then use digi calipers for the grand finale
 
In my experience the best place to pick up dial calipers is at a pawn shop. All my starrett and Mitutoyo dial calipers were under $30 and work like new. As long as it opens and closes smoothly, not much to go wrong. Digital are a different story, quality issues abound with used ones. Of course if you use your new ones, problems develop too. That's why you almost never see an experienced machinist with a digital caliper. (No Offense Bruce, I did say "almost never")
