Does anyone use and intercom between the shop and house. SWMBO is asking for something so she can call me to dinner or whatever and I'd kinda like something in case of an emergengy in the hsop.

seems counterproductive to give them a way to communicate with you while in the shop.........kidding. Nothing here, shes got to walk outside and get me.

I was dumb enough to show her where the breaker is in the box for the power to the building. Be turning away and beboppin to the radio, and then its a black out. What the heck was i thinking.

She just open back door a screams. Every man on the block goes running inside to see whats going on. Just kidding we have a Radio Shack wireless intercom. It has a beeper or Voice. Have it mounted on wall next to light switch just inside shop door right under first aid kit and next of fire extinguisher. Also have a cordless phone hand set out there. Don't all ways have the cell phone with me.

Many cordless phones with multiple handsets have an intercom built in. Check out the manual on how to do, or browse the internet for a copy of the manual for your phone.

I'd have to buy a small country before my wife ever needed an intercom.

Reminds me of that old joke.......

What's the quickest way to get a message across the country?

a. Telegragh?
b. Telegram?
c. Telephone?
d. Telewoman?

I had the intercom before the cordless phone. To lazy to read the manual. Hell half the time I don't answer the phone. I am in the shop now, cleaning up before next honey do project. Have my laptop in here. Just looked at the there is button on bottom "Int." probably the intercom. If I tried to change my Technically challenged wife it would take to long and probably not work. I had to let my soon to be 9 year old Granddaughter help teach her how to use her iPhone and iPad.

Just a bit of clarification.... I do have a phone but the shop is metal and reception is iffy, the wife has issues with stairs so coming out to the shop is a problem... I'll look into radio shack and see what they have. tnx for all the input
