Years ago there use to be many places where you can find wood inlays of all kinds but looking these past few days I have found very little to choose from. I am in search for some strip inlays made of wood veneers. I will be making some projects that I want to incorporate wood inlays in as accent strips. Does anyonehave any sources they would like to share. I have checked the usual suspects and choices are slim pickings. Rockler, Woodcraft, Amazon, and a few others. Now there are some places where you can have them made but that gets expensive in a hurry. I picked some up from here yesterday and will see what they look like and if I can use them. Seem very thin. I think all of the boutique shops that sell pen supplies(PSI, Exotic Blanks, Turners warehouse) carry inlays. I bought a Laserpecker LP5 and veneer to try and figure out inlays, just haven't yet because I have been playing with metal engraving on it
 
I buy some inlay strips from Lee Valley Tools. As you mentioned, prices are steep. To keep
costs down, I use small amounts on some of the projects that I do. More as a decorative
"accent" piece.

The website seems to be working fine. Make sure that your currency is set to US dollars. You can also

Thanks but I am not looking for that type inlays. I am looking for strips you use for flat work.

Yea I may have to look deeper into it. The big problem it was only one type and I know shipping would be crazy for a couple strips.

Alan's suggestion of purfling gives you a different search term. I searched and found Allied Lutherie which seems to have a number of different inlay strips. Each about 2mm thick.

I have checked into the purfling corner of the market to. Used by musical instrument people. I am trying to stay consistant in the wood family. I probably will be doing abalone inlays and mica stone inlays some too but for now wood is the goal.
