The Photo idea using a mirror was inspired by Alex and the photos on his website.
The inlays were done to the blank while it was srtaight cut at about .520 Diameter.
I used the Unique Products CueMonster inlay machine designed for inlaying pool cues but adapted to pens.
The inlays are cut to a depth of about .060".
That's a stunning pen!! I was thinking yeah, I'm geting one of those cuemonster machines...until I saw it was $8,000.00. Wow!! I don't think I could sneak that by the wife.

If it wasn't for the pool cues I wouldn't have one either.
The Pantograph machine Unique sells is a bit more reasonable and it will do a great job inlaying pens.
It used templates that are twice as large as the final inlay and you can easily make them yourself.
I had one of them for a year or so until I got the CueMonster.
I sold it to another pen maker to inlay his pens.
