So my son likes to come out in the shop with me and hang out pretending to work on his own projects. I usually just give him a scrap piece of 2x4 and some sand paper and tell him that he needs to make it smooth! This time however, I thought, screw it! He's hung out here long enough, he deserves to get to do something really cool. I told him, "Come on over here buddy, let's make mommy a cool vase out of that old cherry log! Check out the pic! He was laughing and loving life! The vase never turned out due to a big crack that just kept getting bigger and bigger, but who cares. We had fun making that broken thing!

Yeah, I put one of my dust masks and an old pair of ballistic glasses on him but they kept falling off. The dust mask became a necklace and the glasses became a chin strap. LOL!

If he is over 5, he will tell you about this day when he is 30+. Amazing the things they remember.

(Oh, and you'll feel pretty GREAT when he remembers!!)

Yeah, I was going to mention something about the eye protection but, going from one pic to the other, I forgot all about that, and started to see the real fun moments that kid had with you, while getting a little shower of shavings all over him and I can tell you this, sure safety gear is certainly important, but a little dust will not hurt him and from what I see, both of your enjoyment and you son's excitement of being so close to action, has put a very special smile in that kid's face, something that will worth quite a lot, in years to come...!

Cheers
George
