Import Duty

Guys, can you tell me what the norm is for import duty from Australia, i have received an invoice for 101.00 GBP for spending $475 AUD. When spending 400 USD from China the most i have paid is 30.00 GBP This bill seems very steep?

I don't know about British customs, but in the U.S. you do have the right to question and request a re-appraisal of the duty rate... doesn't always work, but you have the right...

the rate does seem a little high between crown countries... almost 30%????
