Large pencil, I'd hate to have to write with it though, good grief. My writing looks bad enough now, I can't imagine what it would look like while trying to use your pencil. What's the story/idea behind making it, is it for a special use somewhere?

Thank you for asking. The pencil sits in front of our local elementary school. The original pencil was in really bad shape so I volunteered to repaint it. As soon as I had it down it could see the rot was way beyond just a paint job. I built a new one. Fairly easy actually, I laminated eight cedar decking boards together with epoxy, shaped it with a skill saw, used a power planer on the point, plus six coats of paint, nine coats varnish on the tip. Six years later still looking good. Thanks to our local sign painter who helped with the "2" you can't see.
No, I can't put it behind my ear...but I didn't misplace it either while in building process.
