I've had this design working in my head for weeks and weeks as a tribute to the victims of 9/11/01 and America's resolve to move forward. There were less colors and more meaningful measurements (which accounts for the different widths of the chiclets). Then came 8/29/05 and Katrina tried her darnedest to wipe New Orleans off the face of the earth. Well, the blank took on a new meaning for me as I added colors to the (re-named) building blocks. It's now more than a tribute. It's a celebration. Think of Mardi Gras in New Orleans and New Year's Eve in Times Square.
Fear not, New York. Fear not, New Orleans. We will help you re-build it and we will come back!
