you will not receive the updates you requested.

Our software (and many other companies') will send you an email when a product you wanted is back in stock (assuming you "hit the notify me")

Lately, we have been getting some of these back as undeliverable because people have elected to have a "clearing software" ahead of their "inbox".

If you make this "screening" software part of your process, make sure you put in "exceptions" for any companies that you might want to email you.

Otherwise, the "notify me" feature will be useless to you.

Just a little food for thought,
Ed

Can you please tell me more about these "lock" and "clearing" things?

One example, Ed, is BoxTrapper. I believe it is included with most hosting accounts that use Cpanel. It requires anyone not on the whitelist to respond to a message before their e-mail will go through. I have run into this issue numerous times where someone orders something from me and then I get a reply back from their spam system asking me to fill out a form before my e-mail will go through.

Another one that drives me crazy is when customers do not add my site e-mail address to their safe senders list. They then call or e-mail asking for a tracking number on their order. My system automatically sends the tracking info as soon as I print the shipping label. Usually after they contact me, they find the e-mail in their spam folder. On the confirmation screen after placing an order on my site, it reminds you to add the e-mail address to safe senders list but few do. Then they get mad at me when they don't get tracking info even though it was sent!

And yes, I have my own dedicated e-mail server with its own IP address. It is not blacklisted on any RBL's. I check weekly to make sure. I also have feedback loops set up with all the major ISPs and e-mail providers to reduce this as well as DKIM and SPF authentication on my mail server. In other words, I do everything possible to make sure my e-mail is not seen as spam.

I think what threw me was being unaware of the terms used as I have not heard them referred to in that manner before. One thing that did stick out at first was 'undeliverable' part. Nor did I equate this to spam filtering in any manner, hence me asking for more info.
