A friend has a son who is gaining an Eagle Scout award of some sort. Would you share some ideas for a pen?
Also, there is a silent auction and they have asked for a pen made of Parker parts because the town manufactured these parts. I do not at this point know the name of the town, but can find out. Apparently they think a Parker pen will draw some bidding.
It looks as though there will be two separate pens, one as an award and the other for silent auction.
Being brain-dead this afternoon, any suggestions and ideas will be appreciated.

For one - the PSI Classic is a copy of a popular Parker pen. I would do it as a fountain pen and you might find some original information on what the bbl material was.

I'd check with BSA and see what some of their award emblems for Eagle Scouts look like, or if they have it a Boy Scout Flag. Perhaps one can be done into a decal you could use and you could try to match the colors with uniform or flag colors.

I would say find a nice looking wood, but nothing like a wild burl or similar, and have the BSA Eagle graphic and boys name lasered into it and filled with a contrasting color.

If you want to get complicated, some red/white/blue segments or inlays could be used to add some style...

PSI classic. I will look that up as well as the BSA site for ideas. Laser engraving sounds pretty nice. Good work.

If you can get a Eagle Scout medal, maybe Seamus could make a blank for you like his coin blanks.

I actually have some ideas with a few items from the boy scout office that i was working on last year, but it got put on the back burner. Maybe now is my chance. Let me take some pictures and post here in a sec.

I've sold ome of the Lazerlinez laser-cut eagles for these gifts. Wood-n-whimsies has a similar one I'm getting ready.

My son is in Scouts and all the boys who are getting their Eagle badge, I am giving them one of Laserlinez's Eagle blank on the Sierra.

Well, so here was my idea. I went to the scout store here in town and spent $25 on their Eagle pen, took it apart, and proceeded to look for a way to make the finial/clip fit on any of the pen kits available. Also, and i cant find the item, but they sell a piece that looks like this:

Eagle Rank Staff Shield

I wanted to cast the eagle rank staff shield on the lower barrel and somehow fit the Eagle head finial/clip onto the upper barrel. I really cant describe my vision, i can just see it in my mind. sorry

My older son is well on this way on the trail to Eagle. He is currently a Life Scout and needs two more Eagle-required merit badges and to plan and complete his Eagle project (and a couple of other requirements). He's 15 so he has time. (Okay, I'm proud of him, and my younger son too who is just about to First Class.) Anyway, until recently we've been making his troopmates who make Eagle just a regular cigar pen. That was before I came across this site and realized that we could cast things ourselves. So now I want to do more Eagle/Boy Scout specific pens.

I too like the idea of the Eagle laser cut pen. My other idea that I had been thinking of is having the key words of the Scout Law engraved on a wood pen (Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, Reverent). Or doing some decals with the Eagle badge and the words of the Scout Law in blue and red all put on a white background… I might add the Order of the Arrow insignia on mine too since the Eagles in our troop are also part of this. I like the idea that I can now customize a pen to the specific scout (perhaps name, troop number, date of becoming Eagle…).

Eagle is a big deal. It's a lot of work. Only about 4% of scouts make it. I bet your friend is very proud of his son. Congratulations to the boy and his family!

I hope you get some ideas that will help for your project! I'm interested to see what others come up with too!
