I'm planning workbenches along the walls of my shop and trying to decide on how deep to make them. I could go for 24 inch cabinets to maximize the plywood, but I don't think countertops to cover 24 in cabinets gives enough working space.

What are your opinions?

Mine is 24" deep and it seems to be enough room so far. I also have a 30" wide "island" in the middle of my shop for a build table though. 24" deep is plenty for pens though. :)

I like 30 inches, and so that leaves room for putting the clear-drawer storage cabinets against the wall, leaving the 24 inches of counter to work on.The drawers are easily reachable at 30 inches.

That's what I did at work,and it's perfect.
