I posted a thread, i rarely do, and it was difficult. When i clicked on new post or new thread, a new window opened up and it displayed a page telling me i have a virus, click ok to continue and fix. I just closed that window instead and the original screen was changed to enter my thread. So i did so. then i click add attachment, added them, but could not hit submit because there was a small popup window over the button. i click to close it but it takes me out of the iap. finally i was able to submit button fast before the popup appeared again. Right now as i type this the popup window is on my screen over to the right. a small window, says wood turning, then pen kits, then wood working projects, etc, a list of links floating on my screen. I am not experiencing anything like this on any other websites or forums that I am a part of. Using firefox, whatever the newest version is.

This is the only report I've had of this. Is it only happening here?

Anyone else seeing something similar?

Jeff,

Depending on who you ask, this is either malware or a virus. I do not have it happening to me and I am connected to IAP several hours a day. I do not believe that this is an issue with IAP as much as with Jeff Powell's system.

Jeff - here's some info on what I think you are infected with.
How to Remove PC Optimizer Pro (Uninstall Guide)

It probably came to your PC as part of a "legitimate" download or install. You can read about the infection method in that link. The infection method is not from web servers unless you are downloading some kind of executable, and that would not be from here. Nevertheless, Tyler our head security sleuth is checking to make sure.

From that link:

PC Optimizer Pro it's technically not a virus, but it does exhibit plenty of malicious traits, such as rootkit capabilities to hook deep into the operating system, browser hijacking, and in general just interfering with the user experience. The industry generally refers to it as a "PUP," or potentially unwanted program.
...and...
You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this PC Optimizer Pro. Be very careful what you agree to install.

Always opt for the custom installation and deselect anything that is not familiar, especially optional software that you never wanted to download and install in the first place. It goes without saying that you should not install software that you don't trust.

Yea, i think i have that pc optimizer software on my computer. My wife installed it a few months ago, it pops up on my computer every day driving me nuts
I will try to get rid of it. I swear i have no issues on any other sites but still could just be this software.

I have a couple of "PUP" that get on my computer every day from google, my maleware program removes them then google puts them back....The problem with some of the google crap, there is no way to keep them from installing it. I am generally not in favor of a lot of regulation but I do think google goes to far with what they're doing.

I had similar problems on other websites and forums until I finally installed Ad Block Pro. It prevented just about all of that crap from appearing. I use it with Chrome and I'm on a Mac ( Just a fact, not a recommendation  )

Cheers,
Rich

PCOP is malware, and you likely got it from installing another freeware/shareware program (sometimes it can creep in through a malware-ridden webpage link... Google ads will occasionally get sniped with this one). Try the steps here to remove it:
How to Remove PC Optimizer Pro (Uninstall Guide)

Malwarebytes--(free) removes all the junk (spyware, adware, rogue ware ect)

Ccleaner--(free)great to remove/uninstall programs. Plus cleans out your temp, history and internet junk

Adblock plus (free) use it with Chrome or Firefox.
