I wonder if I'm the only one who whenever I plan to do something that needs 3 days of sunshine the weather for the next month is rain one day, cloudy the next, rain again....

We are trying to get out deck painted and we had it cleaned and because they used some chemicals the contractor wants it to dry very thoroughly before applying the paint.....hence two days of sun, he shows up -- rain before he can even get the paint out of the truck. Next 6 days, steady rain day one, showers day 2 and 3. Sun day four, rain and showers day 5 and sunny today. Of course tomorrow is Saturday...maybe we'll get lucky and he'll show up anyway. The only saving grace is that we had the wisdom to not pay him until the job is complete.

Nope happens to me all the time. Just like this weekend. Sunny and hot all week and now the weekend is rain in the forecast

You haven't been washing your car, have you?
Three things --- thing one - I drive a pickup truck not a car. Thing two -- I don't wash it (see thing three). Thing three -- it is garaged and really does not get very dirty. If it does get dirty, I leave it parked on the driveway during a rain storm.:biggrin:

Now if I were washing it, there is no doubt in my mind that I would bring on the rain when I did. I do take it to the car wash once in a while --- they do a great job cleaning the windshield (inside), dash, etc. the wash is secondary.

Here in Alabama, we have had a very wet period of time..

Between Last Thanksgiving and March 1,... it rained 31 inches in out little town.

I am retired and go to the shooting range when I can. Only when it is a week day and when it is not raining and has not rained for at least one day. ( The roads are gravel and dirt... gravel and mud when wet). I have only been able to get to the range 4 times since beginning of March.

My yard normally needs mowing every 2 weeks, but since you can't mow wet grass, its only been mowed twice in last two months.

Smitty... I understand your blight...

And it snowed this year

If I ever went a month (between March 15th and Christmas without mowing I'd have to rent a haybine and baler and make hay, probably at about a hundred bales to the acre. I mow about every 4 or 5 days from the last of March beginning of April until about July then get to about every 10 days until I pick up again in September and go to once a week until late November....Last mowing is always around mid to late December and we might still have dandelions blooming.

Sounds like my wife schedule she mows the grass I keep telling her black top asdro turf . Then you have the pool would make nice concrete walkway garden then the 12 x 50 ft. Pond would make nice place for a garage work shop. She just hasn't been listening

I still have not gotten use to this grass stuff.

I lived in Arizona for 23years. Anything green that came up in the yard was usually watered regularly without asking about its parents.

Mostly I had rock, mesquite and cactus. They took care of themselves. Mesquite is a water parasite, if it can't get water, it sends out roots looking for it. Even if it is the neighbor across the street.

Mesquite, ah yes I remember cutting off large limbs and paying to have it hauled away. Now I am paying to get little chunks of it back; at 3/4"x3/4"x5 1/2" a time.

Just like everything in life. It is all about perspective. If it did not rain you would be here complaining about that.

Heck here on the east coast we just went through the 4th dryest April on record. So any rain we get is well needed to build up the resevoirs which are at a deficet. That may hurt us big time when summer gets here. Spring time the weather is always unpredictable. Wait till the summer to paint the deck. You surely will get plenty of dry days.

Not all of the East Coast. Most of Delaware had more rain than usual in April and it was colder than usual.

I was offered a transfer to Tucson, AZ in 1979, I went out to look for interviews and housing - brownest place I ever saw. I was told that in the Flagstaff area AZ had normal 4 season weather but decided that was too long a commute. The only places that were green was where they had sprinklers running every morning.

We're trying to refinish our deck with a product called Restore. We started almost a month ago and with staining the rails and in between the planks, we have only half of the deck floor completed. Restore is a great product, but if any of you are planning on using it, figure on needing at least 50% more than they say you will.
