I think you should have kept it instead of burning it. Why not give rotary carving a try? You might find you really like it. Especially for things like your tiki.

I though you were going to char the wood and then take it out of the fire. I was thinking you were aging it or something. Oh well at least it cooked some marshmellows for you.

The truth was I just didn't like the process. Might just be the tool I was using, or my lack of patience...
