In a fit of stupidity, I assembled a Capital Click pen wrong. Somehow, I pressed the threaded coupler threads first into the end of the pen. In the process of trying to disassemble it, I somehow messed up the click mechanism. Now it doesn't retract all the way, and it extends way too far. Any ideas? I'd really like to save it.

You can take the refill and place it in the click mechanism and lightly tap it to drive the click part back in it. I have had success with doing this.

If the Capital Click uses a Schmidt SKM88 click button you can get replacement from Schmidt dealer Richard l greenwald. They have them in black for 7.25 each.

Hope this helps.

Sorry you have this problem.

I can't offer a way out of it.

But I am impressed that you document everything so completely with photographs .... even mistakes in assembly !!!

I checked the instructions on the WoodTurningz website ... they say that you should unscrew the plunger before pressing in the cap/clip piece.

Did you do that ? . If not, I can see the potential for bu****ing up the clicker by pressing on the plunger.

Anyway, I hope you can find your way out of this. . Please let us know.

The Capital Click appears to be a nice looking pen, and thanks for making us aware of it.

Yes, I removed the plunger. This happened as I was trying to drive the clip/mechanism assembly out of the body. I ended up driving the transfer punch into the white plastic piece.

I'll be darned. It worked! I pressed hard on the tip of the refill until it clicked. Now it retracts all the way. It seems like it extends a little far, but I looked at photos of the other two Capital Click pens I've made, and they stick out a ways too. Maybe not quite as far, but close. Thank you Keith!

Good to hear that your pen has been fixed !

It is a very beautiful pen !! . I like the combination of the black hardware with the blank you chose !!
