I need a crib

Apparently after 12 1/2 years of marriage I finally get to need a crib. :biggrin:

I am planning on making one. Any suggestions? I have looked up all of the current safety guidelines. I have thought that I would buy a good mattress first and then build the crib around it. I am thinking solid end panels and slat sides.

Probably going to use poplar as it is cheap and I can stain it to look like cherry. Any reasons not to use poplar?

Congrats! My two cents is to use red oak because of how durable it is. I used it for the completed rocking horse that has seen some rough two kid use and am using it for the second one.
