i seem to have lost my zest for pen turning, all woodworking to be quite honest. i went out to the workshop to get a screwdriver the other day and walked through a half dozen spider webs, thats a bad sign. thats not to say that i have given up on it all, thats something that just doesn't leave you. but as many of you can attest to, life just happens. my wife has been sick but is getting better, and in february my son was diagnosed with autism, sometimes life just hauls off and kicks you in the _____.

just needed to get that off my chest. hopefully i'll be inspired again one day and the lathe will turn once more. thanks for everything,

I think you will need to return to turning for more reasons than you expect. Your life has just been enriched.

I think we all go through a bit of a slump every now and then. Sometimes a few of us find ourselves in bigger slumps than others.

Our prayers go out to you...

Prayers go out to you and your family, hope your wife gets well, and things will get better.

Our Grandson was diagnosed with Autism three years ago, and you should see him now, he still has the moments, but he now rides his bike, and plays with the other kids, and is more open and such just like a normal kid.

Hopefully you will get the expert help Our Daughter and her Husband have been lucky enough to get, the special teachers and school has worked wonders with our grandson.

Our prayers are with you and your family. Our niece has two Autistic sons and two very ADHD sons. We love them and they can be a handful.

It can be a kick in the ----, but it's not the end of the world. An autism diagnosis can be all across the spectrum - from high functioning (think Bill Gates) to unresponsive, and everywhere in between. My son just got his drivers license at age 21 - but I don't know if he'd be there if we hadn't sought input and advice from so many others who "had been there".

I don't always get a lot of time in the shop, but my "sawdust therapy" helps keep me sane.

Hang in there, Marc! It gets better...

Time heals all slump creating kicks in the nuts life sends us. I have not effectively used my beloved cameras since my father-in-law's suicide and resulting life upheaval. almost 5 years ago and the urge is coming back. Of course if that passion did not wane I would not have discovered pen making. All things in time and according to someone's plan. Good luck.
