My name is Andrew Arndts, I reside in Albion which is in South Central Michigan.
I have only been turning since late June of this year. I am more of a Wood Arrow Crafter for Traditional Archery.
I have made about 20 pens so far and a few other turned items.
and yes I am repeating or reposting what I did in the Michigan Community section/thread.

Here are some of my work.

some will probably skin me but the candle stick, and snuffer is Lignum Vitae.

Currently I have these darts on eBay, I will have to say I learned how do copy without a duplicator. and that I am proud of myself.

Welcome Andrew! You've got some really nice stuff there. Looks like a great finish on the pens, too.

I'm putting a few links in here for reference –
This link has postings by different pen turners on what they wish they had known earlier:
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46654

This link tells of some "out of the box" tools/aids for pen turners http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66178

This one is a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't. http://content.penturners.org/articl...9/Acronyms.pdf

Thank you for the info though the link with the PDF didn't work.

I'm new also, so I have to ask- Why would anybody skin you for using lignum vitae for the candlesticks and snuffer?

Well as it was told to me by the one who I bought my lathe from and who gave me a box of scrap, blanks, and assorted tools.

as you may know Lignum Vitae is the Hardest wood known to man and the resin is soo oily that it was used as bearings for the shaft that connected to the Screw on ships (propeller) and it was used by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers for similar bearing needs.

So with that History, I felt that perhaps it would have been better used. Yet that was what I had in enough proportions to make the candlesticks and snuffer... however couple of days later after I turned them, I got in some Padauk.
