So i am tryin to get a stupid riding mower but like most, I am broke. SO.... I decide to hit C-list barter section and post an ad. I even put in my ad that i was only interested in a local trade. No cash, no paypal, no shipping.


What do i get for being sick of spending 7 hours at a time mowing my yard??? 4 offers to ship my trade item to Nigeria for a check.

insane. Just plain insane. These people don't have anything else to do but sit at a computer and scour the world for people to try to rip off. sad.

You know if I had a thin dime for every email I've gotten telling me how many millions I've won in lotteries, or how many millions were found deposited in a bank in some obscure country, or how many millions I could share by helping someone get it out of their country, or how many thousands Microsoft, or Dell or HP would send me every month....I might never have to lift a finger again.
 
I have won so many UK Lotteries, I now own Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Problem is Liz and Phil won't move.

Sounds like you guys need to up your level of spam control. I don't get any of this crap. If I am expecting am e-mail the spam control my catch I just check my spam bucket.
 
could be worse. I have a rider and it started acting up. I knew one of the spindles on the deck needed replacing, the blades, and the deck belt. Cost me $300 all together. It hasn't rained since and the mower has been sitting in the shed surrounded by brown grass. Haven't had a chance to see if everything is fixed or not.

What are you mowing that takes 7 hours... Hell's half acre!!:eek::eek:

I mow just under 1 acre that's more up hill than down hill... and usually takes about 1-1/2 hours, except for a 10 foot wide x 50 foot swath immediately behind the house... that's so steep I have to use a hand mower and takes another 45 minutes... 'course I do use a riding mower, including the hill down into the ditch by the road.... and I hate roller coasters....

Even in Houston, I mowed about 1 1/4 acre with a push mower and only took about 3-4 hours.

I guess I need to tell you to walk faster? :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
 
Wish my grass would die - I loathe mowing. I went about a week and half without mowing and a mouse built a nest and had babies in my lawn mower lol.
 
Takes me 45 min to mow, I have 3 acres, 4 wheel drive JD mower 72 inch deck.

I absolutely hate mowing the grass, even with my awesome mower. This is the second year in a row where I have not had a break yet from the rain..my lawn just keeps growing so fast that every Saturday when I cut it I have huge clumps everywhere and it looks like crap. I'd use the grass catcher, but then I have to be out side longer, sweating and getting dusty...that grass catcher I have is like pulling a sewer vacuum behind me....dang thing will suck the gravel out of the driveway! And when it's all over, you have to practically shovel that thing out, it holds so much compressed grass it's rediculously insane..no doubt why I bought it to begin with of course.:rolleyes:
 
My buddy has a riding lawn mower and tons of property and has to stay on it all the time to keep the grass down to a manageable level.

He'd much rather be playing golf in retirement, so he has renamed his riding mower to help him change his mindset about using it. It's now called,

"THE TANNING MACHINE"

This is why I have often wanted to just pave my entire yard with asphalt...and paint it green. Problem solved.

It takes me 3 8hr days to mow where I live. Plus I have to use 3 different types of mowers! For around my house and the barn area it takes about 2 1/2hrs and I use a zero turn mower. For the polo field 3-4acres I have to use the tractor with a finish mower that maybe takes 2hrs (flat straight fields are nice!) and for the rest of the property (about 90+acres) I have to use a brush hog on the tractor going over and around all kinds of crap and that takes me the other 2 1/2 days to mow! the house and polo areas I have to keep mowed at all times, but the rest of it can wait about 2 weeks in between mowing....which I probably need to do now since it's been raining the last couple days :mad:
 
It takes me a bit over an hour and a half to mow just under two acres I only have a 20 Hp Husqvarna 46 in mower I've had it two years and gone through 2 set's of blades, the rain we've been getting means mowing about every 4 or 5 days, except the back yard, too much hassle with the dogs. it get's mowed every second time I mow the front. I need to mow today, but I can't. and besides it just started sprinkling. I'm also supposed to mow the grass at the shopping center my shop is in. but it's on hold till next week, At least I get a rent reduction for that.
 
My mother has that many small shrubs, trees and plants in our lawn, and my little sisters trampoline and playhouse that its like an obstacle course when trying to mow the grass. I just dread the thoughts of it :mad:
 
My v belt just broke on my rider, drives the blades. Now I'm back to the small self propelled mower. Not a lot to mow but it's hard on the wheelchair. I actually enjoy mowing, It gets me out of my chair for a little while lol.
 
Why not just go Jesse James on that lawn...you get yourself a camaro and you weld a mower to the doors on each side and a pull behind slave mower on the back of the car...mows a 1/4 mile stretch 6 foot wide in 14 seconds.:biggrin:
 
Hired a friend, takes me a minute to write the check, but I know that's not the most affordable route. $25 a time every other week is much better than me out there doing it. And my lawnmower was stolen last week anyway. Good thing I wasn't using it. Good luck Ron.
 
2 solutions.

1) is there a neighbor who has a mower but hates mowing? If so, offer to mow both lawns in return for the use of the mower to do it. This is actually what I am doing right now. My neighbor's mower died and they have a couple teenage boys. They use my mower to mow both their lawn and mine. They even pay for the gas.

2) buy a cow or a goat.:biggrin:
 
I have to mow twice a week this summer, trying to work out the details of controls on the mower for my chihuahua

And I'm sorry for all you guys, as it takes me 10 minutes to cut and trim my grass. I have a 52 inch zero-turn Great Dane mower. Only takes 5 passes to cut the front yard. Have no backyard due to a deck and my shop.
 
Ron I will make you a great deal on a riding mower you can have mine all you need to do is come pick it up. Course I am in oregon. But heck we could do some turning and casting while your here and we could even go fishing but what would be real fun is we are moving soon so you could help pack 30 years of stuff!
 
If i was closer, or had the money, I would take you up on all of those offers!
 
Ron I feel your pain about c-list, I have advertised a tractor as well as a couple quads and the only responses I got thru my yahoo mail were the spam crap. So I thought one day hey I should check out my spam folder and see if any of this lottery stuff ever gets caught and low and behold I had several responses for all my stuff from legit customers! It was to late they had already bought from someone else, just found it strange that yahoo would let the spam come thru but block the real e-mails.

I used to mow about 5 acres but I did have better sense than to use a walk behind mower.

You sound like the guy who bought the first house I ever owned when I got transferred. Pulled out all the shrubs, dug out the trees, eve pulled the flowers out of the flowerbeds and turned half the front yard into a parking lot.
 
size of lawn

My neighbor's (of 32 years) dad always said the way to get your lawn sized right was to start next to the house .... mow around and around the house until you'd mowed for 15 minutes. Then stop and put the mower away, your lawn was big enough.
