I am getting back into pen turning after a few years off. I am somewhat starting from scratch as far as supplies go. I still have the tools, equipment, etc. So, that is not the issue. My wife and I want to turn small stuff, pens, seem rippers (my wife's project), etc. To re-learn I plan to re-do some on my "unsold" stock that are a little shelf worn or damaged, clean them up and gift them. This will give me some practice until I can re-stock my supplies.

Here are the questions:

List of good reasonable suppliers: I just moved to rural central North Carolina. Nearest "big cities are 1-2 hours away so most of my shopping will have to be on line.

I need a Racehorse pen clip. This is for a long-time friend who own Racehorse's.

What is the best acrylic polishing compound? Small quantity as I have a few acrylic blanks that I would like to turn.

Welcome back! The online suppliers I use most are Pennstate Industries, Exotic Blanks, Turners Warehouse, and recently Crooked Mill. As for acrylic polishing, I developed a regimen earlier this year that has been working very well for me. (Thanks to TonyL for his advice.) I wet sand to 600 grit; then use either Micro Mesh or 3M Zona polishing paper wet; then Meguiar's 105 and 205, and sometimes follow with Meguiar's #9. It's a lot of steps, but the results are worth the effort to me.
