Get up early to head out for a Masonic conference and decide to check my checking account just to make sure everything is ok. Find out someone transfered $2100 out of my acct!!

Contacted my CU at 4:30 am to notify them. After a few minutes with the associate researching this with the supervisor, it is agreed the person requesting the transfer is not me. Fraud folks will be contacting me on Monday to resolve this. I was told it shouldn't be a problem retrieving my money. I just wanna know who this punk is so I can prosecute.

The most iritating thing was the guy had my full name, last 4 of ssn and DOB. Someone had attempted to do this a couple yrs ago through using TTY and it was declined. I had set up a password for myself and LOML but somehow mine didn't save in the system. Wife feels so violated. I just want revenge. Any volunteers to hold him while I beat him?

All this 2 wks before my first show of the season.

Thanks for listening, needed to vent.

That totally stinks! And it's scary. Glad you found out so quickly.

Tim, your DOB is posted in your profile here. You may want to remove the year to make one less piece of info available.

It is certainly infuriating, Tim. And I truly feel your pain. We've had three cards fall victim to such crap in the last 7 years. One was before they started requiring a zip code at the gas pump. The other two were the result of hackers. Somebody in FL got a card maker, blank cards and using the right 1st four numbers randomly printed cards to find the ones that worked. Hackers got one from hacking Walmart and the other from actually hacking my CU! We were fortunate enough to get our money back, but it still sucked!

I say hang them high as possible one right under the other. Let their bones be an open warning to others. Bring back public hangings, the stocks for display, anything to show thieves just what they can expect to suffer when caught.

Until thieves fear the law again nothing will change ... expect the increase in the finding of unidentified bodies out in the woods all around the country.

My thoughts exactly!!!

You realize that all the information needed to get money out of your checking account is printed right on your checks. All that's needed is the name, routing #, and acct #. The only thing protecting you is that someone needs a merchant account to take advantage of it, so it's easy to track down an unauthorized transaction. So you have to check your statement regularly and carefully, and challenge any unexpected withdrawal.

Tim,
I had some one emptied my checking account several years back. It is really a bad feeling. The worst part is this type crud is never caught and even if they are, some bleeding heart judge will turn them loose. Hope everything works out for you.
Should I ever meet such a person in the SOUTH he will be dealt with properly!!

Ben

+1 for rope and tree. Someone took my ssc number back in 1998 a distant family member. Rack up of a million dollars worth of loans and rent a house in the upper mid west plus all utilities under my name and ssc number. I found out when I was buying a house and was declined on the mortgage.
It took over seven years to clear it up. Police found the person and is still in jail as of today. A lot cheaper to hang him.

ID thieves destroy more than just credit score. This was at the time when id thief was just starting out. It took seven years to clean up because of all of the agencies involved with the case.

The punk is probably in a different country, but if you find him, we have a saying around these parts. It is a big desert and the coyotes are hungry. Nobody will find him.

I'm in...pipes and bats?

Use rubber hoses. You can beat some much longer before they show any real damage.

Then, dip 'em in salt water, about 1500 lbs. of salt to 100 gallons of water. Makes the small cuts sting.

Then, stake them out over an ant hill and give them a bath in honey. Forget that they are there for a week or two. If they still breathe, then turn them over to the courts, who will slap their wrists and let them go.......

I've never thought about this before...... Honest...... Really........

I will help as well, but I believe the punishment should be torture by 1000 credit card cuts with a sharpened credit card which had been previously frauded. If you use one of those knife sharpeners with the two carbide bits at an angle you can get the edge scary sharp.

I have also been there plus thefts from my businesses, breakins and such. I make tyhe occassiional baseball bat. I'll make a special one for you.
Parasites these guys are.
