OK in one of my earlier threads I asked for help in changing a fuel pump. Thanks by the way for all the help. Well I ordered it and put it in only to hear it making a weird noise. I did notice that the new one had 3 nipples and the old had two. Well all of the video I seen showed the same pump so no biggie right. Well it bothered me and I called the mechanic and he said they sold me the wrong fuel pump. :mad: So I called the store and told them such and they said oh yeah you got the one for non flex fuel. What makes it so bad the guy remembered me when I took it back and said I ordered the flex fuel one. I had to returned the fuel filter for the same reason. Well it was a lesson learned. So if you need help with a Chevy Tahoe fuel pump let me know I now have twice the knowledge :biggrin:

I've always found the best idea is to take the old part in anc compare them in detail whenever possible.

When that isn't practical, try to compare it at the store immediately after purchase before you go home.

When that isn't possible, accept you'll probably get the wrong part, the probability increasing with the importance of the part.
 
Sounds like a typical day in the life of Xander.

I know the situation all too well. My car is a '93 but it must be from the end of the run because a few parts are from the '94. And to make things worse, I have the high performance 'Dual Twin Cam' engine which was in only 5% of vehicles made. This engine option does not come up when the store does a search for parts.

Anyway, good to hear you got the job done and or now mobile again.
 
I told you in your previous thread to double check it Chris. Otherwise you'd be doing it twice. Sorry for the inconvenience, but Chevy makes two different pumps for the Tahoe, Suburban, and Pickup's.

I thought I did. I asked about the difference but was told that was the one they recommended
