I can't believe I made this

so this is my first attempt at making a captive ring design with a 1/2" skew. I nailed on the first go. The only thing is I don't know what type of wood this is. I thought it may have been a mahogany but I'm thinking I'm wrong. The rainbow is from my niece. She thought it would nice with my bottle stopper.

Almost positive it's curly maple.
