i am surprised how much i like this bandsaw

hey all

i have a big delta 20" bandsaw which is a beast so i have always had a smaller 9" delta shopmate bandsaw but it was under powered. well i picked this craftsman 10" bandsaw up in that i heard it was a copy of a rikon bs.

i dont particularly like crafstman but they have a real hit here in my eyes. good power and its very easy to work with small pieces.

sears online seems to always have really good sales going on for tools which is how i got this bs for $125 with free local pickup.

the way to get a good deal is to keep checking the sears site in that they run specials on tools throughout the month and then i applied an additional coupon. i have good success finding coupons on this site Save with sears coupons from RetailMeNot

I noticed on the Sears site that if you use your Sears card, they take off an additional 5%, so that would save an additional $10.

Also, if you live close to a Woodcraft, they have the Rikon version of this saw on sale for $199.

you have no idea how close i came to buying that exact saw. my local sears had it in store so i could get a look at it, but i knew i wanted to resaw in the future so i held out for a big one, but good buy, and enjoy it.

& $227 in mine... more expensive than the Rikon

I have the same Craftsman band saw, and have not had any problems, its a great little saw. As far as I can see, it is made in the same Chinese factory as the Rikon, with the exact same features, and comes standard with the stuff that is optional on the Rikon, just that its gray not green. The only problem is the blade size of 70 1/2", you just can't run to the local Home Depot if one snaps, and even Sears stores are very limited on what they have in stock.

With on-line sites, they remember what you have looked at. If you view an item several times, eventually you will see a "coupon" for dollars off the price. Make sure as soon as you see it you click on it as it will not appear again.

Save your $ and use the 20" bandsaw. It is really not worth using smaller ones. Beast or not you can easily do everything you need on there.
