Hello folks

here are some quick workshop pictures of two boxes that I have made today.

this first one was an experimental cast for me to try out some spruce cones.

and this is what the blank looked like before turning

this next one is a natural edge ozzy burr with silver and purple resin

and this is what that one looked like before turning

I hope to learn how to do boxes,I've been slowing picking up the needed tools.

Man George you make some sweet boxes, were you inspired by Ray Key?
Lin

thank you, no not really, I started woodturning 16 years ago after going toa craft fair and meeting a woodturner, I really liked an ash box which he had(wish I had bought it) I started chatting to him and bought my first lathe afew days later. I really struggled those first few years as there was no localwoodturners to ask for help and no internet forums.

In those first few years I can remember seeing Ray's boxes as well asRichard Raffan's and Allan Batty's in magazines and books but my box making bugwas definitely started at that craft fair.

Just saw this thread in recent activity, had my interest... I'm a total newb... so forgive the question, but what is a "box" in this sense? They look more spherical to me lol...
