Sadly I cannot get HUT plastic polish in Canada anymore & it appears even US sources are not available.
Has anyone had any success with Penn State Industries ONESTEP One-Step Plastic Polish?

Thanks.

Others can chime in here but have heard of auto polishes used to enhance pen finishes.
True- I use an auto polishing compound made by Rupes. It comes in course and fine, as well as a few other grades, but I just use the course and fine. Amazon sells it or you can buy it at local auto paint suppliers. Works very well.

Other choice is Novus - also comes in a variety of grits. I like this a lot but it tends to have a tendency to leave white film behind more than the Rupes.

I used HUT on my CA finish and acrylic pens for a long time, and couldn't find it when I got back into turning about a year and a half ago. Ended up picking up Novus 2, and as near as I can tell it works identically.

I too use the Novus 3 (heavy scratch) and Novus 2 (fine scratch). I find that I don't even need to use micromesh with this as I just wet sand my "acrylics" to 800 grit and then go straight to the Novus 3...

Made it a practice when turning with abrasives that leave a residue is to wipe with a damp cloth (loads of old tee shirts) after each grit. Just make sure you use a fresh place each time.

I highly recommend this. I also suggest use microfiber pads to apply. Have started using it about 5 years ago and never looked back.
