Turned this hummingbird feeder from a section of Douglas Fir. Lots of resin in it so I wiped it down with mineral spirits and then applied 2 coats of dewaxed shellac. After two days I dipped coated it with six coats of a good quality water based outdoor finish. Some of the areas have so much resin that they are translucent. So far there has been no resin bleed through.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice design Michael. Just right for spring as I am certain that they are right at home in the great outdoors.

Thanks Peter. I have been very happy with the durability of the General outdoor finish I use on them. We enjoy looking out and seeing the wood (or banksia pos
d we have out front) rather than just plastic. And best of all the hummers seem to like them too?

Very pretty and a new project to add to my "To Turn" list. What are the dimensions of your feeder and I too would like to know about the feeder insert. Thanks for sharing
