Saw a video where the fellow chatted about different type of pen blanks as acrylic, etc. How can I tell the difference? Some blanks come with a label, some don't.
How to determine different synthetic materials?

Probably the easiest way to tell the difference between the two "common" types of plastic are:
Acrylic will be square, with no visible chips, it is often very shiny.
Acrylestor is a polyester resin and often has noticable chips out of the edges, they appear to be very similar to when I windshield gets a chip. It also tends to be dual when in blank form.
Acrylic will not chip when dropped on a hard surface, where acrylester will.

There is Polyester resin cast, Alumilite resins. Both are different look and feel and polish different. Then there is the older Italian resins (celoplast) that may have more ingredients in them than we know. Then there is Truestone material. Also Casin material. that is different material. All resins.
