I need to sell my vintage 9" Craftsman lathe Can anyone tell me what it might be worth? Great condition. Original paint. Bearings are smooth. Rails are clean and smooth. No motor. Is it worth $100? More? Less?

Looks like a good lathe for someone.

No cover for the headstock pulleys ?

It will depend on what threads are on the headstock and the Morse taper in the headstock and tailstock. An old iron lover will buy it without any consideration as to the Morse taper, but most woodturners will look for 2MT and 1-8 threads.

I am one of those old iron buyers, if I did not already have more lathes than I need I would consider this one, but at 70, I need to get rid of, not add to my "stuff" pile. I have the smaller version similar to yours, I stole it for $25 about 8 years ago at a yard sale. It is now set up with a 1/4 horse motor.

Tom, personally, I think that if you get $100.00 for it, you robbed somebody. It's not much of a lathe, and it's got no motor. Yes you might be fortunate to find someone into old iron, but I'd grab the first fifty dollars offered for it.

It probably has more value as a collectable than as a basic lathe. Lots of people collect old Craftsman tools, as well as other brands.
