How do you decal a pen?

I've seen some very nice pens here and I think I've read where some have used decals on them. What type of decals do you use? I've seen some neat waterslide decals I'd like to try but wondering if they will work. Plus they are a 1/18 scale to an inch which I calculate to be about 3/16" or 5mm. These seem like they would just be a couple mm's too small? Any opinions or ideas are appreciated!

I use clear waterslide decals and print my own images.
Seal with acrylic spray, place on blank and cover with 2 or more coats of med CA.

Is there a certain size that you make your images? I'm really just wondering if the 1/18 scale would be large enough to be recognizable on the pen.

Ok, so Maybe I'll just order a sheet of these and see how big they are when they come in. Not very expensive anyway.

This is how I do my decal application on wood pen blanks using either
polyurethane or Med CA.
