How do I polish acrylic that is glued to wood?

I made some pens with acrylic centerbands and finial tops without clips and when I wet sanded them with micro mesh the water cracked the ends of the wood. Is there another way to polish up the blanks with out using the micro mesh and water?

A regular CA finish should get the wood and acrylic to around the same sheen.

Just use the mirco-mesh without water. Unless I'm missing something, that seems to be the best option.

You could use denatured alcohol, but try sanding and add a CA finish will work well.

Aluminite doesn't finish to a high gloss, so you should add a CA finish.

I never wet sand wood. And so far have kept my MM dry just make sure to keep it moving.
Water will lift grain and also soak into the wood.
I clean my blanks with DA and or air.

Alumilite Crystal Clear shines as well as PR, it was the Water Clear that needed extra attention. If you have a mix of wood and acrylic, a CA finish over all of it will give it a uniform shine.

If there is no plated parts on the pen, you can put it on the buffer also and shine it up.
