I just thought I would share a few photo's from my FB page of our furry babies outside. Since the weather has warmed up, I (we) have been able to spend quality time with them and it shows. They look forward to their brush downs to get all the mud off. LOL

My brother and his wife are horse people. WE took long hair from the tail and made a horse hair pen, Cigar Style, as a memento. Have you tried it? I am researching how to wave horse hair after soaking in vinegar.

No, Sugar is a Paint. She will be one next month, so she is still a baby.

As for the other two, they are not really brown, but more of a reddish and there is a word for it that starts with an "S" but I cannot remember it right now. I do think there is "quarter" in both boys.

The word your looking for is Sorral although I would think of the one with the blondish mane as chestnut.

Standardbred

I bred and raised standardbreds (Trotters and Pacers) for a time and they only recognized certain colors. Black, Brown, Bay, Chestnut, Roan and Gray - I think there is another color recognized in New Zealand which is like a paint....I've never seen one though.

You are correct on the sorrel. I used to raise some quarter horses in my earlier life. Dad and I ran a herd of quarter horses. We used to raise colts and sell then in a production sale each fall. I used to start about 15 colts each winter and roped steers in my spare time. I don't own any horses any more and it is hard to get out of bed some mornings.
