Greetings from Nebraska.

Yesterday I was recognized as the Season Ticket Holder of The Game during the first game at the Men's College World Series in Omaha between North Carolina and Virginia. I was interviewed between the 1st and 2nd innings. It was a pretty cool experience and it came with a couple of baseball caps and a really nice Rawlings baseball sewn leather wallet along with a few other souvenirs.

It made me want to drag out a couple of pen blanks that I got from Stadium Blanks that are made from Red, Blue, and Yellow seats that were removed from Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium. I think I will use the blanks for the lower sections of pens and design a label cast blank for the caps with Rosenblatt Stadium and a baseball bat or something along with a small note that identifies the stadium seats in the other blank. But that will have to wait for next week after the Greatest Show on Dirt is done for the year.

Congratulations Dave. I know you enjoy the college World Series. I have never been but I used to read about them when we had news papers and listened to a few games on the radio when nearby SEC teams were playing.

Missed TN and FSU. Went to bed and learned of the game the next morning. Tonight will be interesting. too.
Dave, congrats on the interview and the souvenirs. A Grand Slam for you!

I have a Rosenblatt blank sitting in my collection waiting for it to get done. I love your idea of a label cast for the stadium.

one of my best friends won the state baseball championship at the 'blatt, I keep thinking I should make him a pen, perhaps this blank is it.

As a follow up to one of the comments, this is my first design for the top of a Cigar pen with the bottom made from Stadium Seats from Rosenblatt Stadium. I don't know if I like it, but at least it is a starting point. I'm going to have to tweak the colors and maybe make the blue glow a little smaller so there is more separation between the letters. I am also going to try white letters with red outlines too. I went with a gray background at the seam because the blanks I have are essentially a gray substrate with the red, yellow, and blue bits of seats embedded in it. I'm also considering changing "STADIUM SEATS" to "STADIUM OMAHA".

Of course, comments and suggestions are all welcome. - Dave

I know I'm late to the party but I just read your story about attending the CWS game. A few years ago I made a pen for a retiring HS baseball coach I worked with. (I am now a retired athletic trainer!) I used a game used baseball and wood from a broken bat. It took me about 20 hrs to make, as it was my first attempt at using clear acrylic. The finished product was attempt number 4 ! To date it is still only one of one, although I have been asked to make a few more.
