I have been looking at the 2 and 4 axis Computer controlled Dremel type cutter on the market; most seem to be between $2000 and $8000. and the ones offered,†buy the plans and the parts and build†your own for around $600.
So when I looked at all of them, they all reminded me of the old plotters cad users used, so I went on Craig’s list and found two for sale for under $100 and picked one of them up, I was not really thinking of how big it really was 4’ X4’x 18†HP Draft Master RX. My idea is to remove the head that picks out the proper ink pen, remove the carriage rollers, make a sled that will move back and forth as the paper would have and add a rotary tool on the top that should lower when it get in place as the pen would, and as long as I tell it to use only a single color, I think it will not try to go back to the pen feeder hopper till the job is done.
Now the reason I bring this up to the group is, I have never worked with this type of printer, and before I go thru all of the work, I figured I would see if anyone else has tried anything like this, I still have to find the driver for the printers just to make sure they work, they power up, and post them self so I figure they should work, then start to disassemble one to see what is under the covers.
So any help or ideas will be appreciated. Thanks Dave Spring Hill Fl
