I'm always amazed at the ridiculous deals people always seem to be finding on CL. I watch it like a hawk and rarely do I even *SEE* good deals, much less find them in time to take advantage of them.

My luck changed this week. Last Wednesday, I found this bandsaw and was the first to call about it. Standard design, great shape, just needs to be cleaned up and tuned a little. Fifty bucks!! Even complete POS bandsaws seem to sell for more than that on CL around here.

Then yesterday, I ran across this disc/belt sander. This seems to be a much better unit than most of these type designs. A full 1 horse motor and an eight in. disc. Now I just need to build a squaring jig and I can get rid of my end-mills. Picked up this guy for forty bucks.

Two better-than-decent tools for way less than the price that either of them would normally be individually. I'm happy.

Patience is the key with CL and know the value of what your looking for. If you are serious about finding deals on CL you will need to install and app on a smart phone to notify you when something is listed that you are looking for. Most of the better deals are gone within minutes of being listed. I have bought and sold lots of items on craigslist and it is getting very difficult to be the first to respond especially if it is a popular item. Good luck with your finds!

Ya done good!!! Congrats on your find!

CL jackpot too

I was looking for a smaller lathe to replace my OLD Sears lathe. I called about the ad, went to look at the lathe and other related items.

Jet mini lathe six speed w/stand.
Jet slow speed water grinder w/ lots of attachments.
Less than 20 hrs on the equipment.

Piled in one corner of the room were some plastic bags with ??? in them. "take those too, if you want". Got home, went through the bags. Pen kits, parts, blanks etc. Over $200 worth of 'stuff'.

Paid her $450 for everything. She was moving to CA and HAD to get rid of everything.

My ONLY such deal on CL.

You stumbled onto a good one. Every time I scan the Twin Cities CL tool section, it's glutted with posts from area pawn shops, selling used tools for 75 cents on the dollar. At those prices I'd rather pay a little more and get new. I used to find tool bargains on CL 3 or 4 years ago, but it seems like it's not that great anymore.
