In the city of Perth, Western Australia, there is a new Library being built and today, at a cost of more than $75,000 a large tree has been lifted in through thru the roof and was planted in the Children's section of the Library.

It has been christened "The Tree of Knowledge" and will stimulate Children's learning into the future.

Today I found out that the Tree is "Ficus Hillii" or Hills weeping Fig.

I know that this tree is still causing some humour amongst you all, so I just could not resist posting this bit of Trivia.

I hope this is of some interest to you.
Thanks for reading.

Is there some background link to this incident that someone could send me the URL for, please? .... I don't know the story behind the Hill's Weeping Fig so can't, at this point, appreciate the humour in this :(. Thanks.

I do not know its origination but it is usually the first guess in one of George's wood identification contest.

Bob Wemm ran the Wood Identification contest for the BASH (the IAP annual birthday celebration) a couple of years ago. Bob, being the horticultural wood junkie that he is, has the ability to collect and/or find types of wood that most wood people have never heard of. Most of the contests that year took 8 or 10 or 20 or more hours for someone to come up with the correct guess (and I say guess because many of us were making guesses based on his hints). Some of the threads became very entertaining as some folks started creating scientific names for things . . .
