Hi There,

I live in Irene, Pretoria, South Africa. Working at a bank during the day (doing mining finance) and playing in the garage in my spare time. General woodworking is my first hobby, but pen turning has bitten me now. Finished about 5 pens so far.

Here is my first one: my wife's mother's day present.

Hi Peter,

It is African Rosewood / Bubinga.

I finished the pen and "drenched" them in BLO. Left them overnight to soak up the BLO and wiped off the excess BLO the next day - that brought out the colour quite nicely - else it is quite light. Finished them with a few coats of CA (without BLO) and Micromesh and a bit of Meguiars car polish.
