Hey all.. I'm now to the forum and to turning in general..
Last year I brought home may grandfathers metal lathe and I've ben playing around with that over the summer..
This winter I picked up a set of turning tools, mounted the tool rest, kicked up the spindle speed and started playing with wood..
Here's where I am so far..
What I did was turn a block of poplar down to 5/8 so it would fit into my largest collet.
stuffed it into the collet and drilled through the center.
Then I mounted it between centers and went to town with the skew.
I finished up with a bit of sanding since I'm not a skew master yet
Practice for pen turning.. Honestly it's the first thing I've done that turned out ok.
