Hi Guy and Gals,

My name is Terence and I live in Vancouver BC. I have been turning pens for about a year now and having alot of fun doing it. Well it's more a love hate relationship.

I get so critical with my pens it drives my wife crazy. It's to the point where I would rather throw away the pen then give them out just for alittle imperfection...Ahh but I guess practice makes perfect...haha

Reading some of your tips and tricks makes me want to do more pens...

Welcome from HOT Texas! I went to Vancouver back in 91 when I was stationed at Ft Lewis during Desert Storm.

Welcome Terence, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/articles/2009/Getting_started_in_penturning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

Welcome from Chattanooga

Welcome Terence. I'm new here myself. Know what you mean about your pens. I've turned some that were not fit to give to a disliked relative. Keep your chisels sharp and your touch light.

Hey Terence,

Welcome from just across the pond in Victoria. Wow, is your home city ever in the news these days, for all the wrong reasons. After the brilliant job done hosting the winter olympics, it's hard to believe that the city could get such an ugly black eye in a few short hours after the Stanley Cup finals. It's a great city -- it'll bounce back quickly. Hope there was no impact on you....

Cheers
Steve
