Hello! I am a novice fountain pen user and have never made a pen, but I definitely have an interest! My spouse has a basement full of tools (mostly for woodworking) but one tool we lack is a lathe. Looking forward to learning more and perhaps starting to try some pen making!

Warm welcome to IAP !! . :)

If you are headed down the "Fountain Pen Rabbit Hole", you might want to consider a metal-working lathe.
It's not as foreboding as it might seem at first.
And it does have advantages when working with resin blanks, metal parts, and the threading requirements of custom fountain pens ...
... not to mention that you could avoid the rigors of learning to sharpen wood-turning chisels by using much cheaper carbide cutting tools.
There are quite a few IAP members who would be happy to offer some guidance in making your selections and getting you set up.
Keep it in mind !
