hello everybody, my name is Loic from Las Vegas. new to turning pens, baker by trade. here are a few I made. for some reason I'm having a hard time to sand smooth the Maple wood, I also made 2 with Ebony, the 1st one was perfect, the 2nd one I couldn't sand smooth...anyway, Im learning.

I use micro mesh up to 12,000 on the last round of sanding and then beal buffing tripoli and white diamond polish. Then Mylands finish.
 
Thank you, I only sand up to 2400 then I apply the eee ultra shine and tgen the shellawax..

A Benefit of turning pens as compared to Baking, with Pens you can get to sleep in.

Very nice pens! Go on up through the micromesh grades as Tom suggested. If you aren't doing it already, be sure and stop the lathe between each grit and sand longways as you slowly rotate the blank by hand. This really helps improve the final results.
