Glad to have another local to go to the Penmakers Anonymous with.

My name is Rick, I am an addict. It has been two days since I made my last pen.

uhm....i think addiction is putting it lightly......
my dad just sniffed up some sawdust like it was coke

Welcome Scott, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

Welcome Scott. Glad to see another pen turner in the San Antonio area.
Come join our Penturner's group. We meet at Woodcraft on San Pedro on the first Thursday at 6:30pm. If you want to see pen addiction, we have it in our group.
You are welcome to also join the Alamo Woodturners Assoc (AWA). It is open to all woodturners and we meet at the same place on the fourth Thursday at 6:30pm. PM me with your address and I'll get you on our mailing list. We are an affiliate of the national American Assoc. of Woodturners (AAW)
Look forward to meeting you.
