I've been a woodworker almost all my life, but I only started turning pens (or anything else for that matter) a little over 2 years ago, so don't be concerned at all about being new to the hobby.

Lot of great info on casting and stabilize here also vacuum dyeing and the like
But you will start turning pens on day I know it.
