My harbor freight lathe (Jet JWL-1236 clone) is making a clicking sound when I turn...Is this a sign of the bearings going, or could it perhaps be time to replace the belt?

It's not that old, so I can't think it would be the bearings, but one never knows. Strangely, it happens more often/louder when I have the drawbar in my drill chuck. Could the drawbar be bent perhaps?

If the drawbar is too tight, it puts stresses on the bearing that they weren't intended to handle. You can remove the belt and turn the spindle by hand and listen real closely to the bearing to see if they are the source of the noise. If no noise, put the belt back on and repeat with the belt at different tension levels. Sounds to me like the bearings are going.

Check to make sure that the setscrews that hold the pulleys to the shafts have not gotten loose
